Preparation-introduction to the subject
Pupils read a text in their book about the British Isles and they focus on Ireland. They spot it on the map and they watch short videos on youtube with Irish pictures and music. Then the teacher introduces them to a useful web tool, adobe spark video and they watch a relative video.
Looking for and finding information
They are divided into groups of 5 and are assigned to find information at home about Ireland related to: capital city and population, big cities, culture and famous artists (writers, poets and painters), sights and food.
During the next lesson, they work in their groups, collect pieces of information and through discussion they decide what to include in their poster and video. Each group writes the information, attaches pictures or drawings on a hard piece of paper and they produce a collage for the class. The teacher monitors the procedure, gives instructions and is available for any help at any time.
Developing or Practicing
In the next lesson, the pupils go to the computer lab and with the help of the teacher they create their own adobe spark video, one for the whole class. They take seats alternatively to find and insert a photo related to their topic while everybody watches the procedure on the projector. Each pupil should do that so that the video consists of 25 photos but if this is time consuming, there could be less pictures and more time spending on the other aspects of the video (layout, music, special effects).
Performing and Presenting
In the next lesson, the pupils watch their own adobe spark video. The whole class points out project implementation difficulties.
They are given a worksheet and are expected to have learned certain things about Ireland and the Irish culture.
